Lake Havasu City is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Wastewater Utility Specialist I. This position plays an essential role in supporting the safe and efficient operation of the City’s wastewater collection system.
Position Overview
The Wastewater Utility Specialist I performs entry-level duties related to the inspection, maintenance, repair, and operation of wastewater collection infrastructure. Working under direct supervision, this position assists with the cleaning and servicing of wastewater lines, lift stations, manholes, and related facilities while adhering to established safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs a full range of general repairs related to the wastewater collection system; performs trenching, shoring, and backfilling; repairs gravity mainlines, force mains and laterals.
- Performs a full range of general maintenance and cleaning duties related to the wastewater collection system; cleans and rods sewer mains and laterals; cleans lift stations and wet wells.
- Operates a variety of vehicles, equipment, and tools including service trucks, dump trucks, water trucks, vactor trucks, skip loaders, backhoes and related attachments, large trailers, and hand and power tools.
- Serves in emergency standby capacity; provides customer service and performs all aspects of collection system maintenance and repair during after-hours periods including holidays and weekends.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Six months or less experience in the use of hand tools, construction, repair, and maintenance.
- Grade I Wastewater Collection or Grade I Wastewater Treatment Certification issued by the Arizona Dept. of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) at hire.
- Possession of a valid Commercial Driver License Class B with Tanker Endorsement at hire.
The selected candidate who does not possess the required certification, will be considered a trainee.
