As a Permit Technician, you’ll be the friendly expert guiding customers through permits, applications, inspections, and city processes — all while keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.
What You’ll Do
Assist customers at the front counter, by phone, and online
Process permit applications and construction documents
Coordinate inspections and route plans for review
Maintain records and permit tracking systems
Help contractors and residents understand permit requirements
Work closely with planners, inspectors, and engineers

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate should have customer service experience in the construction industry as it relates to the building permit process. They will have superior time management, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills, as well as being dependable and flexible, with the ability to multitask.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
3-5 years' experience in customer service, permit issuance, administrative and clerical work, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements:
Possession of Permit Technician certification issued by the International Code Council (ICC) at hire.
Commissioned as a Notary Public in the State of Arizona based on department need.
Must meet and maintain all training and education requirements for the position.
Valid Driver's License of the appropriate class.
*Candidate that does not possess the required certifications at the time of hire, will be considered a probationary trainee until certifications are obtained with a maximum of one (1) year.
